Faith & Spirituality

Love for God, love for others and love for self will always be foundational ideas in Seventh-day Adventist Christian life. At Central Coast Adventist School (CCAS), we organise our campus spiritual life around these three principles Jesus taught (Luke 10:25–28) to let love thrive.

Love for God.

Staff and students attend weekly Chapels with their peers, enjoying the fun, inspiration, community, care and friendship that comes with worshipping Jesus together. We run three Chapel services each week, differentiated according to age to ensure Chapel is relevant and engaging.

Twice a year, we have a Week of Spiritual Emphasis (WOSE): a week-long community festival spent together singing, performing drama and playing games, inside our decorated hall with a guest speaker. These mountain-top spiritual experiences – when combined with student daily classroom worship, staff prayer and a continual God-focus – are all here to invite us to consider that a thriving human is one in relationship with Jesus.

Love for Others.

Compassion and service to others is a priority. Service (including mission trips) is a central focus at CCAS.

Our Year 12 ‘Make a Difference’ (MAD) Trip involves our students serving in Vanuatu, at Aore Adventist Academy. Students assist with building and painting, organising a Kids’ Club and investing in our sister school.

Year 10 and 11 students are encouraged to serve through STORMCo trips to Brewarrina and Walgett, in western NSW. These trips happen in July and offer the experiences of building community relationships, service and worship in outback Australia.

We have a successful Student Chaplains Program, in which two former Year 12 leaders return to serve at CCAS in a gap year before commencing further study or work. Our Year 6 Chaplain’s Assistant roles in the Primary School offers students an aspirational, serving role on campus.

At our annual HOPE Festival fundraiser, our whole school community lends their support to the chosen service project.

Love for Self.

Through teacher-led Bible studies and student-directed Discovery Bible Reading, our community has a dynamic weekly space for students and staff to meet with God through small group Bible reading and discussion. These groups provide a safe place for young people and their friends to meet to discuss the life, teachings and grand story of Jesus of Nazareth. We encourage our students to ‘own their zone’ and consider their impact on school culture.

Year 11 and Year 12 Spiritual Development and Leadership (SDL) empowers a leadership culture in which everyone is a leader. Students have ownership of CCAS Impact Projects, designed to empower them to impact change on our campus through sporting, spiritual, cultural change, fundraising, hospitality, leadership and other projects. In doing so, our students learn a healthy respect for their true self through a love of God and love of service to others.

The Chaplaincy Team includes our Primary School and Secondary School Chaplains, one Student Chaplain, two School Counsellors and the Campus Church Pastor.
