Our goal is to provide an educational experience for your child that fosters discovery, wonder, and meaningful learning. Our teachers have created some online information that will help you and your child learn more about the school and allow a smoother transition into our school community.

What should children be able to do so that they are ready for school?
  • Get dressed independently.
  • Be familiar with their school bag so that they know what needs to be packed and how to fit it in.
  • Use the toilet independently.
  • Following single-step instructions.
  • Blow their nose and sneeze into their elbow.
  • Demonstrate fine motor skills.
What social skills should children have coming into Kindergarten?
  • Making friends
  • Sharing toys
  • Waiting their turn
  • Saying goodbye
When do children have breaks during the day?
  • Recess 10:30 am
  • Lunch 12:25-1:15 pm
  • Fruit Break
What literacy skills are recommended for students entering Kindergarten?
  • Writing their name.
  • Listening to stories read by a parent or carer.
  • Waiting for their turn to speak, using appropriate voice level, gestures, eye contact and the ability to respond to simple questions.
How can I best prepare my child for their first day of school?
  • Read the CCAS Kindergarten social story a week before school starts and talk about the exciting things to look forward to at school.
  • Get a good night's sleep.
  • Have breakfast together and talk positively about school.
  • Say a quick goodbye.
  • Keep a positive attitude.

  • Practice getting ready for school.
  • Read the CCAS Kindergarten social story with your child.
  • Don’t forget to order your child's lunch online if buying lunch from the canteen.
  • Please pack fresh fruit or vegetables in a separate container for fruit break.
  • Help your child hold their pencil correctly.
  • Please teach name writing in lower case.
  • Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any concerns.
