Course Summary

The Work Studies syllabus is for year 11 only and is designed to assist students in transitioning from school to work. It develops knowledge and understanding of the issues students face in the transition to work and the skills needed for effective career planning and performance of tasks in the work environment.

Students will develop knowledge and understanding of work, the work environment, and skills for employment; knowledge and understanding of employment options, life planning and further education.

The practical orientation of the course is intended to give students useful experiences against which to test their emerging career and/or study preferences. 

Roughly 50% theory and 50% practical work - 3 assessments and Workbook tasks.

    The content and activities in Work Studies offer students the flexibility to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding in employment, career planning and managing change, which will assist in preparing them for a variety of employment and life contexts and make a smooth transition from school to work.
